SOCIAL STUDIES: Assyria and Neo-Babylonia. Workbook page 11 TEXTBOOK: Read pages 48 - 53. Answer questions - 1 - 5 on page 53 (Write your answers in your notebook.) 10/12 - begin Outsiders -- Chapter 1 tonight. By Monday, October 17, students should read AT LEAST through Chapter 4. They will be working on a reading packet (see file below) both in class and at home. They will also be working on the following vocabulary words from the book: acquired, clammy, disgrace, gingerly, glaring, incidentally, incredulous, irresistibly, nonchalantly, rarities, reckless, roguishly, sagely, sarcastically, sensitive, stalked, stocky, sympathetic, unfathomable STUDENTS should be making word squares for each word (NOT ALL in ONE NIGHT -- should be finished by Monday.)
SOCIAL STUDIES -- We are finishing up our studies of Mesopotamia and will be working in class on Hebrews, Phoenicians and Lydians. There will be a quiz at the end of next week on this material. This corresponds to the textbook pages 48 - 59.
We are beginning to read the Outsiders by S.E. Hinton. Students were introduced to the book in class today. HOMEWORK: Build background sheet with 4 questions and a vocabulary list (from the book). NOTE: Students are being asked to research on google (see attached file). This is to build student background knowledge for reading and understanding the text.
